The post-holder will be expected to help develop our national network of hospitals and investigators to recruit to trials and implement a transparent and robust process for identifying and selecting studies to be considered by the CTN. He/she will also need to engage the appropriate stakeholders in the project and work effectively with the NIAA and its founding and funding partners and trainee research networks.

The post is a 3 year fixed term appointment, subject to annual review.

There is no direct payment for the role. The post is supported by 1 period of professional activity (1 PA) per week in order to enable the successful candidate to dedicate a minimum of 4 hours per week to the Network.

A position is also available on the POMCTN Board, offering the opportunity to shape the future of the Network and help drive world-class, multi-centre, national clinical trials in perioperative medicine, from idea to publication and dissemination.

Applicants to the POMCTN Board should be active researchers in the field of clinical perioperative medicine. Clinical POMCTN Board members must be current and eligible members of either the POMCTN Local or Principal Investigator scheme.

The POMCTN Board meets approximately three times per year and members are expected to attend all meetings. Members will also be expected to attend other major functions of the POMCTN such as the NIAA Annual Scientific Meeting or POMCTN Autumn Meeting.

The term of office for Board members is 3 years, renewable for a further term to a maximum of 6 years. There is no remuneration or backfill for Board members, though meeting expenses are reimbursed. It is recommended that Members discuss their appointment with hospital colleagues and senior management.
